Sun. 24 to 30 inches. Long, strong, thin spikes of deep lavender blue flowers provide flower stems all summer long. Frequently mistaken for lavender by people who are unfamiliar with this plant. Salvia Gruppenblau dries easily. Prefers fertile well drained soil. A versatile plant Gruppenblau can be used in the border, as a container plant and as a cut flower.

The ovate foliage of Big Blue is a huge improvement over other farinacea varieties. Though it doesn’t begin to flower for us until late spring once it starts it just doesn’t know when to quit. By the end of summer this planting was amazing! This early/mid season photo does not do it justice.
